The World On Fire
I was motivated to create this piece after hearing about all the fires that have been happening across the U.S. I live fairly close to where a bunch of fires have broken out, so this hits pretty close to home for me. I wanted to address global warming caused by the production of greenhouse gases and connect that to the rampant fires across the country. Fires in and of themselves aren't harmful to the environment, but because of the added harm of coal plants causing temperatures to rise, they have become much easier to spread. The trees on the earth are shown reaching out for help, only to find nothing but the blazing fire all around them. The core of the earth has been decayed and burnt from the blaze, spreading death everywhere. I wanted my piece to look really striking and powerful. The flames are both horrifying and strangely beautiful as they consume everything in sight.
